The East of England (EofE) Child Health Information Service (CHIS) is a non-patient facing service that maintains an electronic record of all children and young people aged 0-19 years old (or 0-25 with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities), and those to whom the local authority has duties, who live in, are registered with a GP in or attend a school in the East of England.
The role of CHIS is to know where every child is and how healthy they are. This involves the monitoring and tracking of public health interventions encompassing immunisations and screening outcomes. HCT provides CHIS services in Hertfordshire, Essex, Bedfordshire, Luton, Milton Keynes, Norfolk, Suffolk, Cambridgeshire and Peterborough.
Members of the public should contact their GP with any queries.
How the service is provided
The role of CHIS is to know where every child is and how healthy they are. This involves the monitoring and tracking of public health interventions encompassing immunisations and screening outcomes.
To do this CHIS in the East of England carries out the following:
- Maintain an electronic record of all children and young people aged 0-19 years old, or 0-25 with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), including those with Educational Health and Care Plans (EHCPs) and those to whom the local authority has duties, who live in, are registered with a GP in or attend a school in the East of England.
- Provide a failsafe function, following up any missed public health interventions and notifying relevant stakeholders when a follow up is required.
- Work closely with NHS England, local health providers and public health bodies to identify, inform and support targeted public health initiatives, where appropriate.
HCT provides CHIS services across Hertfordshire, Essex, Bedfordshire, Luton, Milton Keynes, Norfolk, Suffolk, Cambridgeshire and Peterborough.
