Description of service
QVM is a 22 bedded Inpatient unit providing rehabilitation to patients with various conditions. We have 6 different pathways for the admission of patients into the unit (rehab, complex, stroke(neuro), covid rehab, Non Weight-baring and flex). The length of stay varies depending on which pathway the patient is on. There is a multidisciplinary team which helps rehabilitate patients and ensure safe discharge from hospital.

Preparing for your placement:
- Please email 4 weeks before placement for pre reading list
- Please contact prior to placement to discuss any concerns or questions
What to bring on your first day:
- Smart Card – if you have one
- All Necessary paperwork for the placement including any previous learning goals identified from past placement experiences
- Lunch – we have a staff room with fridge, microwave, toaster and hot drink making facilities – you may wish to bring your own mug and cutlery. The is not a canteen on site but there are some local shops including Simmons bakery and Tesco’s a short walk from the hospital.
What to expect on your first day:
- You will meet your educator in person and be given a timetable for your first week.
- You will have a formal induction to the unit.
- You will be introduced to the multidisciplinary team and have a tour of the working environment.
- We will ensure your access to systems.
- Risk assessments will be completed to ensure your safety on the unit and identify training needs.
