Nutrition & Dietetics

“HCT could not have been a better place to do my final year placement! I was instantly made to feel welcome from everyone in the team, and nothing was ever too much to ask.

During the 15 weeks, no day was ever the same; I got to experience both sides of the community nutrition and dietetics services, the acute, as well as the diabetes service, learning new skills in every area.

The support I received from my placement educators was phenomenal and they went above and beyond to help me - I could not thank them enough!”

(University of Hertfordshire BSc Nutrition & Dietetics student)

The whole team is very supportive and keen that everyone feels comfortable throughout their placement. Each week there is an allocated supervisor who can help if issues related to the timetable arise and with whom the student meets at the end of the week to discuss their progress and plan action points for the following week. The timetable is planned, so that it is clear who to work with or report to each day. There is a meeting half way through the placement to see how the placement is progressing and a final assessment at the end of the placement, where all the Dietitians involved in the final stages of the placement have made a contribution to the assessment mark.
