Plaque unveiled at Robertson House to commemorate former use as flagship HCT vaccination centre

A silver plaque on a brick wall. Plaque reads:

On 3 November a plaque was unveiled at Roberston House in Stevenage, commemorating the fact that from 11 January 2020 through to 13 April 2022, over 220,000 vaccinations were given to grateful patients, as part of the nation’s biggest vaccination programme, in response to the COVID pandemic.

Robertson House was one of the first vaccination centres in the country to open in January 2021, at the height of the pandemic. The successful delivery of almost a quarter of a million vaccinations was thanks largely to a team of dedicated Hertfordshire Community Trust staff, volunteers and colleagues from our partner agencies. The site is owned by Hertfordshire County Council (HCC) and is an important training venue for health and social care staff.

After more than a year of HCT using their venue as a vaccination centre, it’s now business as usual with HCC hosting numerous training courses and conferences at this popular site.

Many staff and volunteers will have many fond memories of working at Robertson House. It was also the back-drop for many VIP ministerial and high level NHS visits, as well as hosting countless crews from the media covering the pandemic.

Our Director of Nursing and Quality said: “It is fantastic and fitting that this historic plaque has just been unveiled. Future generations will be able to see why Robertson House was such an important place during such an anxious time for us all, when the pandemic dominated our daily lives. A huge thank you to all of our staff, volunteers, as well as the other supporting teams from HCT who came together selflessly to help run Robertson House as a flagship vaccination centre so successfully! You all made such a difference to the lives of the local population, who came forward to receive their COVID vaccinations. We also cannot forget all our other vaccination team's staff and volunteers from the many other vaccination sites that HCT ran across Herts and West Essex and Bedfordshire Luton and Milton Keynes!”
