The results of the 2023 NHS Staff Survey provide invaluable insights into the experiences of people working in the NHS in autumn 2023.
Hertfordshire Community NHS Trust (HCT) is grateful to all staff for taking the time to provide feedback about their own experiences.
The survey results are presented under nine overall themes which links to the national People Promise and to HCT’s People Strategy. We are very pleased to see we are the top scoring community trust in the ‘compassionate and inclusive’ theme, indicating that staff feel a strong sense of belonging in their teams.
When comparing our performance against 16 other community trusts nationally, we are delighted to see scores higher than average in all nine themes:
When comparing performance with HCT’s results from the previous year, there has been an improvement in eight of the nine themes - the ninth theme (having a voice that counts) is still above average.
A review of individual responses to the questions shows that we are the top performing community trust in 9 questions; this includes staff feeling that the care of patients is HCT’s top priority, and positive results about how staff feel, feeling that they have ‘good relationships with colleagues’ and ‘work well’ within their teams.
Elliot Howard-Jones, Chief Executive said:
“I would like to extend a huge thank you to all staff who completed the 2023 NHS Staff Survey. I really appreciate staff within the Trust taking the time to give their valuable feedback - a substantial majority (66%) took part, which is a good increase from 61% the previous year. These results will help us continue to develop in the areas where we are performing well and identify further improvements in areas where we may have seen a decrease, to ensure we make HCT ‘a great place to work’.“
