Hertfordshire Community NHS Trust re-opens Waltham Cross Health Clinic after a £2million redevelopment
Local people in Waltham Cross, Cheshunt and surrounding areas can now benefit from Hertfordshire Community NHS Trust (HCT)’s re-opened Waltham Cross Health Clinic after the successful completion of a top to bottom £2million refurbishment. This state of the art facility, which opened its doors on Tuesday 7th September 2021, is the result of HCT investing in community facilities to provide the best possible health and wellbeing care.
Elliot Howard-Jones, HCT Chief Executive said: “Thank you to everyone involved for their hard work in transforming Waltham Cross Health Clinic, it’s a great example of innovative design being used to support the highest quality healthcare. The specialist services we provide here, such as physiotherapy for people coping with the effects of Long COVID and a holistic range of services to support new parents, are helping people at every stage of life.”
Ce Ward, HCT’s Public Health Nursing Operational Lead who contributed a clinical view to the development plans said: “The Waltham Cross Health Clinic is such a wonderful and welcoming environment, I’m delighted with the response we’ve had from both patients and staff. We can now divide the building into separate infection control ‘bubbles’ with multiple entry and exist points, our consultation rooms are quieter and offer greater privacy for patients, there is increased natural light throughout, and the space has been cleverly thought out to accommodate new equipment such as treadmills, leg presses and adapted exercise bikes for physiotherapy purposes.”
Mrs Ann Lazarus, 72, from Cheshunt, attends the clinic for Long COVID physiotherapy sessions as part of her recovery from her initial infection back in April 2020 which put her in intensive care for over a month. “The support and treatment I’ve had from HCT’s Long COVID Rehabilitation Service has made such a difference to my quality of life, I’m so much more confident. Olivia, my physiotherapist, is so lovely. She takes the time to talk to me and understand what I need. Her advice and the exercises she’s shown me mean I’m now strong enough to be able to enjoy gardening again after such a long time.”
Cynthia Ackah, 38, from Waltham Cross, attended an appointment with her three month old son King Aaron with HCT Health Visitor Mel Purves. “I like the new centre, it feels very clean and the rooms are so big.”
Victoria Wenzel, 29 from Cheshunt, also saw HCT Health Visitor Mel Purves with her daughter Maisie aged five months. “I’m so pleased we’re able to have our appointments as normal again and to be able to speak to a professional in-person, it’s very reassuring especially as this is my first baby. The new clinic is very bright and spacious, it’s much easier to get in and out of when you have a pushchair or car seat with you.”
The HCT Services that are now operating from the Waltham Cross Health Clinic include Health Visiting and School Nursing, Children’s Physiotherapy, Dietitians, MSK Physiotherapy, and the Diabetes Service. These HCT services no longer operate from their temporary home at Windsor House in Queensgate, Waltham Cross, and all appointments now take place at the Waltham Cross Health Clinic. The Waltham Cross Health Clinic is also home to a number of East and North Hertfordshire NHS Trust services including Midwifery, Ophthalmology, Phlebotomy and Ophthalmology.
In accordance with NHS guidelines, all staff and patients are still required to wear a face covering on-site unless exempt and patients must re-schedule their appointments if they experience any COVID-19 symptoms. Clinic contact details can be found on their appointment letter.

Travelling by car
Waltham Cross Health Clinic is located on Stanhope Road and can be accessed by the A10. Head south on Great Cambridge Road/A10. At the roundabout take the 1st exit onto Winston Churchill Way/A121. At the next roundabout take the 3rd exit onto Monarchs Way/A121, and then turn left onto Stanhope Road. Waltham Cross Clinic is located on the right.
Waltham Cross Clinic has its own car park for staff and visitors.
Travelling by public transport
The nearest bus stop is located on High Street which is approximately 0.7 miles from Waltham Cross Health Clinic. Routes 242, 251, 310 and 410 operate from here.
The nearest train station is Waltham Cross which is approximately 0.6 miles from Waltham Cross Health Clinic.
