Hertfordshire Community NHS Trust nurses honoured at QNI awards

Catherine McArevey being awarded the Queen Elizabeth the Queen Mother Award for Outstanding Service

Four nurses from Hertfordshire Community NHS Trust (HCT) have been recognised at the annual Queen's Nursing Institute (QNI)  Awards Ceremony in London this month.

Three of the nurses from HCT - Abbe Robertson, Vicky Celia, and Kirsty Jacques - were awarded the prestigious title of Queen's Nurse which acknowledges their exceptional commitment to high standards of patient care, learning, and leadership in community nursing.

Catherine McArevey, Community Staff Nurse, Welwyn and Hatfield ICT and E&N Herts Overnight Service, received the Queen Elizabeth the Queen Mother Award for Outstanding Service. This award recognises community nurses who provide exceptional care to their patients and demonstrate a continuing passion and enthusiasm for nursing.

Sarah Browne, HCT's Director of Nursing and Quality, and a Queen's Nurse herself said:

“Queen’s Nurses serve as leaders and role models in community nursing, delivering high quality health care.

“As a Queen’s Nurse myself, I know the application and assessment process to become a Queen’s Nurse is rigorous and requires clear commitment to improving care for patients, their families, and carers, so I am particularly proud that HCT has been able to welcome three new Queen’s Nurses - as well as recognising the achievement of Catherine  receiving  the Outstanding Service award.”

The QNI Annual Awards Ceremony, held at the Millennium Gloucester Hotel, was attended by more than 500 community nurses from across the UK. The event highlighted the exceptional work of community nurses across nursing services, education, innovation, and leadership, emphasising their vital role in the healthcare system.

This recognition underscores HCT's commitment to excellence in community nursing and patient care. The Trust continues to support and encourage its nurses to strive for the highest standards in their profession.
