Elliot Howard-Jones has been confirmed as the permanent Chief Executive Officer for Hertfordshire Community NHS Trust, following his interim appointment in 2020.

Elliot’s appointment provides continuity of leadership in the Trust, at a time when we are moving out of the pandemic and into a more settled period where we can concentrate on delivering the Trust’s vision of outstanding services and healthier communities.

Elliot was previously Director of Performance and Improvement in the NHS England East of England regional team. In this role, he was Strategic Incident Director for the East of England and led the operational response and strategic planning for the COVID-19 pandemic across the region. He has also held senior positions in acute and mental health trusts, in commissioning and at the Department of Health.

Speaking about the news of his appointment Elliot said: “HCT is a fantastic organisation delivering in excess of 50,000 appointments in people’s homes and clinics every month. It delivers a fantastic service to the people of Hertfordshire through the dedication and talent of colleagues throughout the organisation. Much of the focus during the past year has been on our COVID response and delivery. However, I feel we are now entering a new phase where we can focus more on the delivery on our plans for healthier communities and outstanding services. I particularly wish to focus on helping children to recover coming out of the pandemic; and focus on the urgent and emergency care services for residents.

“Like the rest of the NHS, we continue to face a range of challenges. Some familiar to us, others created by the unfolding post-pandemic landscape. My job continues to maximise opportunities for joined-up local care and to ensure that all staff are able to use their immense expertise to provide even better care over the coming years.”
