Dr Linda Sheridan: A Legacy of Excellence

Dr Linda Sheridan

After a distinguished tenure marked by unwavering dedication and transformative leadership, our Chair Dr Linda Sheridan is embarking on a well-deserved retirement.

Linda’s journey at HCT has been defined by her commitment to advancing healthcare delivery, community services and fostering a culture of compassion and innovation.

Her tenure at Hertfordshire Community NHS Trust (HCT) commenced with her appointment as a Non-Executive Director in June 2013, followed by her elevation to the role of deputy Chair in 2019. When the previous chair stood down in March 2020 she became acting Chair, and later substantive chair.

She is a medical doctor who graduated from Trinity College, Dublin and moved to the UK to train in general practice. After 15 years in primary care in Bedfordshire she undertook specialist training in public health medicine and has worked as a public health consultant in London, Hertfordshire, Cambridgeshire and more widely across the East of England region. She retired from her post as Deputy Regional Director in March 2013.

Linda brought a wealth of expertise to her leadership role, guiding initiatives aimed at enhancing the quality and resilience of healthcare services across the trust.

Throughout her tenure, Linda spearheaded numerous initiatives to improve patient care, including initiatives focused on GP prescribing, diabetes care, cancer screening, child health, maternity services, healthcare-associated infection, and emergency planning.

Reflecting on her tenure, Linda shares:

"I am immensely proud to have been a member of the Board of HCT for over 10 years, as Chair for the past four years. In that time, I have seen the trust develop and grow. I am grateful to our wonderful caring staff who work hard to give our patients the best quality care.

“Innovative service changes have ensured that we continue to make a positive difference to our patients' lives, for example, our Hospital at Home giving patients’ hospital-level care in their own homes. Agility is one of our values, and we demonstrate this all the time, but notably in setting up the Covid vaccination service at speed and successfully delivering well over a million doses of the vaccine. I would like to say thanks to all of my fellow Board members and to all our staff for the wonderful services we are delivering for the population we serve."

With deepest appreciation and warm wishes for a fulfilling retirement, we extend our heartfelt gratitude to Dr Linda Sheridan for her invaluable contributions to HCT and the community it serves.
