We are celebrating Community Services Week this week from 16-20 October 2023 which is hosted by NHS Confederation and NHS providers.

This will primarily be an online event run on social media channels titled #CelebratingCommunityServices with a week-long focus on bringing our community services to life, sharing their importance and the impact on people’s lives and celebrating their successes.

The focus of the campaign this year is on children and young people and HCT worked with NHS Confederations to shoot a video to demonstrate the work our Young Carer’s project is currently delivering in local schools.

The video features Abbie who talks about how the initiative has helped her. The video also includes an interview with Andrea Spratling, one of the School Nurse Practice Teachers who highlights the importance of the project and the challenges it faces. Andrea says, “We make a difference to families and young people by identifying what their health issues are and signposting them to accessible support.”

The Young Carer’s project has also produced an animation video as part of the service which is based on feedback from the young carers themselves. This animation video shows the challenges that a young carer may face and signposts where they can get help. Abbie is very proud to do the voiceover for this animation.
