The East of England's Community & School Aged Immunisation Service (CSAIS) is set to undergo significant changes for the next academic year as Hertfordshire Community NHS Trust (HCT) takes on an expanded role.
From 1st September 2024 until 31st August 2025, HCT will assume responsibility for the CSAIS in Bedfordshire, Luton & Milton Keynes (BLMK). This transition marks an expanded delivery in service as HCT currently delivers the service for the areas of Suffolk, Hertfordshire, Cambridgeshire & Peterborough, and Norfolk & Waveney.
Caroline Shepherd, Assistant Director of Child Health & Immunisation Programmes, commented on the changes:
"This transition represents an opportunity to enhance our immunisation services across the East of England. We're committed to maintaining high-quality immunisation services for all communities we serve."
Sarah Browne, Director of Nursing & Quality said:
"We welcome our new colleagues from BLMK and look forward to integrating their expertise into our existing teams. Our focus remains on providing excellent immunisation services to protect the health of children and young people across the expanded region."
The CSAIS plays a crucial role in delivering the UK's vaccination programme to children and adults, including vaccines such as HPV, Meningitis ACWY, MMR and starting in September, RSV for pregnant women.
