Some of us are more vulnerable to winter weather than others - such as older people, those that live alone, rough sleepers, and those with existing health conditions. But winter weather affects us all in some way, whether you are running a business, driving, using public transport or want to simply stay warm and avoid winter illness – there’s usually something you can do to be more prepared.
Being ready for winter weather can make a real difference. From preparing your home or business to taking care of yourself, your family and neighbours. There are some simple steps you can take to stay safe and healthy at this time of year on the Met Office’s WeatherReady webpages
If you’re over 50 years and need help staying warm and well during winter check out the ‘Keep Warm Keep Well’ leaflet (prepared by Age UK, The NHS and UK Health Security Agency). It contains information on keeping warm, looking after your health and financial support.
The Priority Services Register allows eligible customers to access additional help and support with their energy supply. If you or someone in your household has a serious health issue or impairment; are of pensionable age or have a child under five years, make sure you register your details with your supplier.
