We've welcomed recent NHS data which shows that the highest proportion of school aged children in Cambridgeshire were vaccinated against flu this winter than in any other county of England.
We provide school immunisation services in schools and communities across Cambridgeshire and Peterborough, as well as Norfolk and Waveney, Suffolk, Bedfordshire, Milton Keynes and Luton. The trust has recently been awarded the contract to deliver school immunisation services across the whole of the East of England.
Data released by the Cambridgeshire and Peterborough Integrated Care System last week shows that over 78% of school aged children in Cambridgeshire received their flu vaccination between October 2024 and January 2025, with over 58% of school children in Peterborough also vaccinated. The flu vaccination programme is aimed at all school aged children from Reception year to Year 11.
Chief Executive Elliot Howard-Jones said: “I couldn’t be prouder of our staff for helping to achieve this stunning rate of vaccination among children in Cambridgeshire.
“Our organisational track record for delivering pioneering projects and strong partnership working has meant we are uniquely placed to deliver a school immunisation service that is high-quality, patient-led and best value.
“We are really pleased that, based on this success, we’ve been awarded an expanded contract, which covers the East of England region for both child and adult vaccination programmes, which launched this month.”
Caroline Shepherd, Assistant Director for Community and School Aged Immunisation Service and Child Health Information Service in East of England said: “We’re so proud of all of the teams across the East of England, who have also helped to achieve the highest uptake for flu vaccine as a region.
“Thank you also to all the partners who have played a part in making this happen, including and especially schools and parents for understanding the importance of this service.
“The flu vaccination programme is so critical in reducing sickness from school and work and preventing hospitalisations and pressures on local NHS services.”
